Dutch Harbor Remembrance Day

Statement

Date: June 3, 2014
Location: Anchorage, AK

Governor Sean Parnell today issued the following statement in honor of Dutch Harbor Remembrance Day.

"Each year on the anniversary of the 1942 bombing of Dutch Harbor, we remember and honor all those who were affected by the attack, especially the military personnel who served and died to defend our nation, and the Aleuts who died while imprisoned.

"I encourage all Alaskans to join with the people of Dutch Harbor, Unalaska, and the Aleutian Islands in honoring all who were lost in Alaska during World War II, and to remember with gratitude those who courageously fought to defend our land."
